What's in For Spring 2017

by Antoinette Stonham

Whilst I strolled through fashion stores in Melbourne I found Spring this year is definitely 90’s inspired. There are so many styles to choose from; I’m loving the full maxi and midi skirts…

If you’re short like me don’t drown your body shape with too much fabric no matter what is ‘in’. Go for skirts with an angular hem or slit in front or sides. The floaty wrap skirts with a frill, look gorgeous and suit most body shapes.

If you want try something different, wide legged floral jumpsuits look great and can be dressed up or down.  Loose fitting floral shorts will become a staple for some mums.

Florals and stripes are huge this season. You may see some designers teaming both together. Stripe on stripe may seem too much but if it’s teamed up with the right accessories it can look quite smart.

Anything embroidered is the go; sneakers, jackets, jeans or bags. If you’re going to follow this trend don’t overdo it. I’ve dragged out my 90s jeans and I’m going to team them up with a brightly coloured jacket and nude shoes.

Anything that sparkles!

Uneven hemlines, layers, cut-outs, fit and flare all help to make that statement.

Colours For The Season

Crisp white, butter cup yellow and different shades of green are some of the colours that will dominate this season.

Ladies shop from your wardrobe first then make a list to fill the gaps. You may only need a pair of shoes or some accessories. Talking about accessories, head scarves, straw bags and cat eye sunglasses are trending. Make the most of these feminine and fun fashions this Spring
