Spring Fashion Trends for 2024
Spring is my favourite time of the year. I love seeing all the new fresh colours hanging on the racks in the different stores. Each brand has their own interpretation of colour and style for the season.
If you don’t see your favourite colour in one store, have a look at different brands elsewhere, I’m sure you’ll find something that works for you.
Some of this season’s trending colours include Lavender, different shades of green, pops of bold red, soft pastels, butter yellow, buttercup yellow, soft pink, rose red and baby blue.
Brilliant white is the focus colour for spring /summer and instead of black, good popular alternatives for base colours are light grey, tan and brown.
When it comes to style many of the trends seem to be 90s inspired -
- bubble skirts are making a comeback
- consider drop waisted dresses
- off the shoulder tops
- slip style dresses
- Bermuda style shorts
- light weight blazers teamed with tailored or denim shorts
- Mini wrap dresses
- one shoulder tops
- square neck lines
- matchy matchy sets
- short and long lined vests
- For something interesting, add a graphic tee to your wardrobe to be worn underneath your blazer
- and yes, denim on denim is still trending
This season we are steering away from soft romantic and moving to bold and colourful florals. If that’s not for you, there other choices like polka dots, leopard prints and colourful, abstract patterns.
If you prefer tonal dressing you’ll find it is timeless.
Wide leg jeans and pants seem to have even more volume this season, which can be tricky to style if you’re short like me. Remember the rule 'Fit and Flare'
When you are creating an outfit remember that mixing the textures makes it look individual. You may even want to add a bit of fringing to extend a hemline or a rosette fabric flower for that touch of creativity.
The trend is moving away from round toed flats to almond or pointy shaped flats. You will also see square toed shoes. There are many choices when it comes to shoes, ranging from loafers, slides, sling back, mesh or woven flats, boat shoes, platforms and wedged shoes. Sneakers are displayed in a multitude of colours and are still a huge trend for comfort and style.
