Cobalt blue, navy and bold red are still hanging around. If you’re a lover of blues and pinks, you’ll also notice lots of different shades being introduced by different brands.

And let’s not forget white on white. There’s something very fresh and stylish about an all-white outfit for spring.

For a little 90s nostalgia, denim on denim is back, giving us that relaxed street-style look.

Leopard is the new neutral

Leopard print is being regarded as the new neutral, and I can see why! You can team leopard with block colours or use it as a statement piece.

If wearing head-to-toe leopard isn’t for you, why not introduce it through your accessories? A leopard belt, bag, scarf or shoe can add just the right amount of personality to an outfit without feeling overwhelming.

More is more!

This season, we’re definitely entering the era of maximalism. Think more is more!

We’re seeing beading, sequins, pearls, fringing, lace and patchwork being added to garments. Denim is getting a makeover too, with embellishments and details making it much more interesting. If you love a bit of drama, this is definitely your season!

Prints are having fun

If you love patterns and print and want to add something different to your wardrobe, there’s plenty to choose from.

Polka dots, both big and small, prairie florals, pantry prints and stripes are all making an appearance for spring and summer. I love anything that makes you stop and look twice!

One of my favourites is the painterly print, where the print almost looks like a painting, sometimes creating a whole scene across the bottom of a full skirt or dress.

Texture, texture and more texture

If you want to add personality to your outfit, texture is an easy way to do it. We’re seeing sheer fabrics, romantic lace, satin, fun fur, feathers, frills and ruffles. Lace and ruffles can add a feminine feel, while feathers, fur and embellishment can give an outfit a little more attitude.

You don’t need to wear all of these at once. Choose one texture that catches your eye and let it become the feature of your outfit.

Skirts are getting interesting

Long skirts, pencil skirts and tiered skirts are trends that look like they’ll be sticking around. And the beauty of a skirt is that you can style it in so many ways.

Wear a long skirt with sneakers and a relaxed top during the day or add a fitted jacket and accessories for evening. And it’s not just the shape of the skirt that’s interesting hemlines are having their moment too. Think high-low, uneven and asymmetrical hemlines.

Jackets and tailoring

For those who love a more structured look, there’s plenty happening here too. Military-style jackets, cropped jackets, tailored suiting and tailored shorts are all making an appearance.

I particularly love the idea of mixing tailoring with something softer or more feminine. It creates balance and stops an outfit from feeling too corporate.

And remember, tailoring doesn’t have to mean wearing a traditional suit. A tailored jacket can be worn with jeans, a skirt or even over a dress.

So, what does this mean for you?

Here’s the thing about fashion trends, you don’t need to follow them all!

Fashion should be fun.

You might love the colour but not the silhouette. You might love leopard print but only want to wear it as an accessory. You might adore the maximalism trend, while someone else feels much more comfortable in simple, classic pieces.

There is no right or wrong. Take the trends you love and make them your own.

• Perhaps that long skirt sitting at the back of your wardrobe suddenly feels very current.
• Maybe that leopard belt you bought years ago is exactly what you need.
• Or perhaps you have a beautiful jacket that just needs to be styled in a different way.
