Trends for Spring 2022
With Spring comes warmer weather and that means that we can start peeling off the layers and introducing brighter colours and lighter fabrics.
Spring 2022 is all about bold bright colours and greens, blues, and all shades of pink and citrus colours are dominating the stores. You’ll also see garments made from the psychedelic colours of the sixties. If the bold and bright colours and prints aren’t for you, don’t fear the neutrals and soft pastel are appearing too.
But what are we looking for in shapes and styling?
You’ll see a lot of denim garments are popular this season, with denim on denim teamed up together in different shades. And the denim is not only jeans and skirts but dresses, jumpsuits and corset tops too.
High rise wide legged pants or jeans are being teamed with crop tops, bodysuits, tie front tops or just a plain t-shirt.
Make a statement with big shoulder pads or puffy sleeves and in keeping with that theme drop waist dresses are making a comeback from the 80s.
We are going to see more of longer hemlines and floaty feminine dresses, with tiers and layering featuring in skirts and dresses. If you’re short like me, you’ll need to wear a midi dress as maxi or you’ll find them just too long!
The long-lined denim skirt, either straight or A-lined has returned and both are trending. Style them up with a silk top or a bit of bling, and pop on a pair of heels. Dress them down with a simple singlet style top and a pair of white sneakers. These are very versatile garments for your wardrobe.
The graphic street-style t-shirts aren’t just styled with denim shorts and jeans but also with pleated skirts or tailored pants, teamed up with a blazer.
If Boho is your style you’re in luck – this season you’ll come across suede, tassels, crochet garments, fringing and open knits.
You’ll also see cowboy boots, lace gladiator sandals, sling-back sandals, thick soled sneakers and high tops. My favourites at the moment are the coloured shoes and bling encrusted sandals.
Remember ladies, shop from your wardrobe first, then make a list of what you may need to give your outfit that touch of spring.
